A resident of the Bronzeville community for over thirty years, Colleen has seen all the changes that IREM Chicago has gone through over the last few years. “I was a member of the IREM Chicago board of directors when they first started. I was also a member of the advisory board for five years,” she says.
“When I first heard about the IREM Chicago, I thought it was going to be another MLM company. However, I have since come to see that I REM Chicago has much more to offer than that,” she continues. “For example, they have been doing business with some really great property management companies.” These include Green Mountain and the North Chicago Realty Corp.
The IREM Chicago chapter also helps the community by helping to fund other projects such as the opening of the renovated Chicago City Apartments. There are several apartments, but the one that is offering the largest discounts is the one located on the south side of Michigan Avenue.
The reason for this is that she has done her real estate certification and now is able to recommend the best properties to the members. Her experience also includes being involved in community activities such as holding IREM Chicago events, such as the Bronzeville Arts & Cultural Center.
Colleen says that her job as IREM chapter secretary was initially simple but it is not anymore. She is responsible for getting IREM Chicago listed on local realtors’ sites, marketing and advertising IREM Chicago and by ensuring that each of the properties owned by IREM Chicago is well-maintained and safe to live in. “I am not a ‘one-woman show,’ although I know that I can play a major role in IREM Chicago. Chicago because I love the real estate industry and I love my community.
I love what I have learned in real estate over the years, and I am looking forward to continuing the education that I received. In addition, it is good to know that I can help others make a living from something that I love and have knowledge about. I enjoy helping people find the best neighborhoods to live in their town and neighborhoods.

The IREM chapter in Chicago is also doing a lot of fundraising for its projects. If you know anyone who is involved in local fundraising or is involved in IREM Chicago fundraising, ask them how they got started and if they know of anyone else that is working hard to raise money for IREM Chicago.
There are many people in the real estate business in Chicago who want to see more IREM Chicago members and fundraisers, so it makes sense to help them out. It is a win-win situation for everyone.
Another way to support the IREM chapter and fundraiser is to attend IREM Chicago events. Chicago is a huge area and there are hundreds of realtors who are in it for the long haul and need volunteers to help them make sure their real estate business runs smoothly.
One person at a time may not make a difference, but a few at a time will make a difference in the success of any real estate business, especially IREM Chicago. The more of these people that can donate their time to IREM Chicago and the more members there are, the larger the impact will be on the community.
